Simple Self-Care Ideas You Need to Try Right Now
Have you ever thought about how important self-care is?
It's one of those things we don't really think about until we catch ourselves in a funk.
If you’ve neglected self-care lately, you may be experiencing the following symptoms:
- Crankiness
- Depression
- Lack of Motivation
- Feelings of Defeat
Come on….you’re running around taking care of everyone else but YOU!
Don’t do that — It’s terrible for your health.
Seriously, stress can freaking kill you—don’t believe me, here’s a link. If you’re fresh out of ways to pamper, spoil, or treat yourself—you know I got you! Here are some of my favorite ways to indulge in (what I call) self-care.
WHIP UP A FACE MASK
Ouuuu…..who doesn’t love a good clay mask?
I know I do!
My go-to mask to whip up at home is super simple, just two ingredients—apple cider vinegar and bentonite clay.
Apple cider vinegar for the skin is another one of those kitchen pantry miracles. It has antibacterial properties and works to reduce breakout and balance your skin’s pH.
And the bentonite clay, once you use it, you’ll make sure to keep it stocked! If you’re an oily gal like me (frying pan status at times), you’ll love how this clay mixture pulls all that excess oil from the skin. Another thing I love about this mixture is that it helps reduce the size of your pores. You can literally feel it pulsating and pulling all that gunk from deep within the pores — yeah yurrr!
Pro tip: We sell this magical, pore-pleasing face mask. Our Turmeric & Neem Pore Detox Mask is a best seller!
TURN YOUR BATHROOM INTO A SPA
Seems like everyone is getting out and about again, but it was definitely a tough couple of months “staying inside.”
During that stint of time, I discovered how much of a personal escape a little bathroom time alone could be — that is, if my then four-year-old didn’t bust in with her Barbie yacht and 22 mermaids ready to join.
Sometimes I’d give in, but sometimes I had to be firm and take some “me” time — without having to reenact scenes from Barbie’s Dreamhouse.
You can dress this occasion up as much as you like, but here are the basics: hot-ish water, our all-natural Botanical Soak, Calming Vibes Crystal Candle, dimmed lights (if possible), and some tunes to vibe to.
My personal favorite: anything Jhene Aiko
Oh, don’t forget some of your favorite products like face masks, exfoliators, or any other type of personal care product or routine you enjoy.
TREAT ‘YOSELF!
I’ve never been cheap per se, but I have gotten more frugal in some instances. But there was a point where I realized that I was just working and paying bills — no frills — and that friggin’ sucks.
It’s great to stay on top of your finances, but you’ve got to treat yourself. I mean, come on, you work hard!
Frugal gal tip: Treat yourself and still stay within budget with split payment options! Just don’t get carried away, because it’s super tempting!
JUST CHILLOUT AND DO WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY!
No lie, one of my favorite things to do sometimes is finding a good thriller on Netflix. Then just kick back and chill.
I’ll admit, it’s not the most productive thing to do, but when you’re running non-stop the majority of the time, it’s nice to slow down and do nothing.
You might like doing your makeup, or making cute IG videos, or cooking — whatever it is — just find some time to do whatever makes your heart smile.
PARTING THOUGHTS
It’s easy to lose sight of what makes you happy when there’s always so much going on. Sure, you’ve got things to do, but make time for YOU, because if you don’t, you’ll start feeling burnt out!
Go ahead, whip up a face mask and turn on some Netflix — it’s YOU time.
